SHEEP GRAZING PROGRAMME

    Volunteers are sought to help with an innovative 30 hectare sheep grazing programme on the picturesque North Kent Downs at Halling as part of a Natural England Higher Level Stewardship Scheme.

Requirements
  • A team of 4 or 5 (or more) volunteers to check and report on grazing rare Hebridean sheep on a simple rota basis.
  • Commitment to the scheme (the initial period is for 5 years).
  • Reasonable level of fitness and interest in livestock and the countryside.

Rewards
  • You will take part in an industry recognised short training course covering all aspects of sheep lookering and husbandry (value £400).
  • An ATV (quad bike) proficiency course is available for the brave hearted. 
  • You will be helping to conserve some of the unique orchids and other species that are specific to the North Kent Downs.
  • Produce from the scheme will be available to volunteers as well as a discount on all purchases from Court Farm Country Larder.
