Workday, Sunday 6th November 2011

Seven Trust members met up to continue with the job of clearing and opening up a lost access track near to the View Point above Brockles Field.  The View Point site forms part of the Cuxton Heritage Trail and has panoramic views over Cuxton and the surrounding area.

The area has been neglected for so long that the track had all but disappeared and was covered with brambles and self-set silver birch trees, which had to be felled.  Work still continues to cut through a large fallen beech tree that came down in the hurricane storm of 1987 and now blocks the way.

Some of the work party also located a new site that is currently under conveyance by solicitors and carried out an initial survey of the plot. It is estimated to be about 1600 square metres ( 0.395 acre) of mixed birch, pine and chestnut and includes a clump of rhododendron.
